The Art of Living
Art, at its core, is the expression of oneself and tasted via the personal process of creation and consumption that others could never fully comprehend. The art of living is therefore the embodiment of the pursuit of art, for which one attempts to live life artistically. With compassion and overwhelming love, we conduct seemingly ordinary acts and manifest art in the form of everyday life. Despite repeated experiences of the same novelty results in tolerance and the extinguishment of initial excitement and pleasure, one must constantly reinvent their art of living, for aesthetic lies in those who are aware, and actualises through deep engagement with one’s seven senses - sight, touch, smell, taste, sound, emotions and consciousness, with the ultimate goal of perfecting one’s art.
Some day I decided to jump on a bus to Clean Water Bay, because I felt the urge to appraise the blue crawling onto the yellowish brown, to feel the roughness and smoothness of sand, to inhale the smell of sea wind mixed with sunscreen, to hear the splashing sound of waves, to taste salt in my mouth, to enjoy my calmness and spontaneousity, and to become aware. After spending some time at the beach, I departed with no destination, spotted an interesting pasta shop on the road, and ate the pasta on a bench near the roadside.
To live is to experience, to do all that life has to offer,
to be liberated and to be burdened,
to take lift into the air and to sink beneath the sea.
This is my art of living.
